iBrain War: The Masterpiece

The Masterpiece is the first in the iBrain War series. It just happened to get written lightning fast in 2023/2024 after the iBrain War and in the middle of Mergend Rising.

The Masterpiece is 102,000 words and introduces the world of the crime syndicates Mergend, the Noories, Groupo, and the Brandts. Tom Jansen, CEO of PlantAI needs cash for his company, which is burning through it like its candy and makes the mistake of approaching the investment arm of Mergend. PlantAI develops brain cyber implants (this was before MindPlant became prominent), and Mergend wants the technology for nefarious purposes. Tom makes another mistake and rejects Mergend’s offer.

The story opens with Lily, Tom’s companion, saving Tom’s rear end when Mergend comes after him. Turns out Lily’s a sentient companion, and she did it all on her own — well not quite. She is actually part of a Noories R&D project and is now out in the world, loose. The Noories want Lily. Mergend wants Tom. So Lily and Tom go on the run to escape both. When Mergend finds out about Lily, they want her, too, and go to war with the Noories.

Lily, recently emerging as sentient, is evolving and needs Tom’s human wisdom to help her attain perfection. She takes on Tom as a project and, with his consent, makes tiny changes to his brain structure via his brain implant.

Tom becomes her Masterpiece.

Can Lily attain perfection? Can Tom become more than human? Will Mergend or the Noories get to them first? You’ll have to read The Masterpiece.

The iBrain War: Mergend Rises

You’ll have to read The iBrain War to find out what happened in the first iBrain War novel. Suffice to say that Carol and Max survived and now face a new threat. It’s a thirteen-year-old girl. Oh sure, you say, how can a young girl threaten anything, let alone the world? Clearly, you don’t know anything about teenage girls. In this case, our villain has special skills … very special skills. She wants to take over every brain in the world. It will take every trick Carol can conger, and Max to keep her safe while she congers, for the two of them … and their friends … to tackle the threat.

The iBrain Syndicate War -- A Science Fiction Novel

It's December 2019 and time to start a new novel. The iBrain Syndicate War is a science fiction novel, set in near future Los Angeles and other parts of the world, and is about The iBrain Syndicate War, which dwarfs WW1 and WW2 in scale. I plan to complete The War by late summer 2020 and target it for 110,000 words.
